What's the tide
doing?

A tide app that just tells you.

Most tide apps make you launch, dodge an ad, and read a marine dashboard to find one number. Tide Buddy does the opposite: five deliberate choices, all pointing at the same thing. Your answer, faster.

Widget-first, not app-first

The tide belongs on your home screen, not three taps deep. Current level, a rising or falling arrow, the next high or low, and today's curve, live in a glance. Five sizes, from a 1×1 tile to a full 4×4, each cycling through your saved stations and matching your system's light or dark theme. Widgets are part of Pro: $4.99 once, yours forever.

Works offline, honestly

Tide predictions are astronomy: the moon and sun don't need Wi-Fi. Tide Buddy caches days ahead and keeps computing the live tide with zero signal, so you never meet a scary “stale data” banner or a spinner at the beach. Freshness is always shown, never faked.

One purchase. Yours forever.

Core tide checks are free for good. Pro is a single $4.99 unlock: widgets, unlimited favorites, the 7-day outlook, a 30-day offline cache. No ads, no accounts, no dark patterns. Trust is the whole product.

Official NOAA data

The same authoritative source the pros use, all 3,498 U.S. stations, minus the clutter. Search any beach or town by name for the nearest stations, or use your location to find what's closest.

Nothing to leak

Tide Buddy has no accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no stored location or personal data. Location is used only for “nearby,” only in the moment, and only if you ask. What was never collected can never be lost.

Everything in one glance.

The Now screen leads with the answer and puts the detail one level below it, never in front. Three things, in order, every time.

1

The number

Current tide level, hero-scale and full-contrast, readable one-handed in direct sunlight.

2

Rising or falling

Shown three ways at once: the word, an arrow, and where you are on the curve. Never by color alone, so it works in glare and for color-blind eyes.

3

What's next, and when

The next high or low, its height, and a plain-language countdown. Below it, today's full hi/lo timeline for planning.

The same tap that cycles your widgets.

It lives on your home screen.

Pick the size that fits your layout. Every widget follows your system theme, refreshes on its own, and taps through your saved stations, with no launch required.

Works at the beach,
not just on Wi-Fi.

The last place you have signal is often the trailhead parking lot. That's fine: the tide doesn't need the internet, and neither does Tide Buddy.

Predictions are computed on your phone

Tides follow the moon and sun on a fixed schedule. Once the numbers are cached, your phone works them out locally, with no request, no round-trip, and no spinner.

7 days ahead free, 30 with Pro

Enough cache to cover a weekend trip, a week at the shore, or a month of dawn patrols, all without a bar of signal.

Freshness you can see

“Updated just now,” “Updated 2h ago,” an honest Offline chip: the app tells you exactly how current the data is, and never dresses old numbers up as live.

No subscription. Ever.

Check the tide free, forever. Unlock the extras once, for the price of a coffee, and keep them for good.

Straight from the source.

Tide Buddy reads official tidal predictions published by NOAA, the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Same data as everyone else; we just get out of its way.

  • No accounts

Download and check the tide. There's no sign-up, no email required, no profile.

  • No analytics SDKs

No third-party trackers watching how you use the app. We don't build a profile of you because we don't want one.

  • No stored location

Ask for “nearby” and your location is used once, in the moment, to find stations, then it's gone. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Private by design.

The most private data is the data that was never collected. Tide Buddy keeps nothing personal, so there's nothing to lose, sell, or leak. Read it in plain English in the privacy policy.

Questions, answered plainly.

Is it really free?
Yes. Checking the current tide and next high/low for any of the 3,498 U.S. stations, plus search and today's tide curve, is free forever, with no ads and no account. Pro ($4.99, once) adds widgets, unlimited saved stations, the 7-day outlook, and a 30-day offline cache.
How accurate are the predictions?
Tide Buddy shows NOAA's official tidal predictions: astronomical calculations of the tide based on the moon and sun. They're the same figures printed in tide tables. Real water levels can still be pushed higher or lower by wind, storms, and atmospheric pressure, which predictions don't include. Treat them as a reliable plan for the day, not a real-time gauge.
Can I use it for boating or navigation?
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Tide Buddy is for beachgoers, surfers, clammers, dog-walkers and photographers deciding when to head out. It is not a navigation-grade instrument and shouldn't be used for safety-of-life decisions on the water. For that, use official charts and marine services.
Does it really work with no signal?
Yes. Because tide predictions are computed from astronomy rather than fetched live, Tide Buddy caches the coming days and keeps working the tide out on your phone: 7 days ahead on Free, 30 with Pro. You'll always see how fresh the cached data is.
Which stations are supported?
All 3,498 NOAA tide prediction stations across the United States and its territories. Search by beach or town name, or use your location to find the closest ones.
Do you track me or sell my data?
No. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs, and no advertising. Location, if you grant it, is used transiently to find nearby stations and is never stored or transmitted. Details are in the privacy policy.
When is the iPhone version coming?
Android comes first. An iOS version is on the roadmap for later. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it lands.

Be first on the sand.

Tide Buddy is coming to Google Play. There's no signup form here, on purpose: instead of list-building software, your email lands in front of a human who writes back, and who'll send you one message the day it ships.
